Painless Botox
Botox® is a purified protein toxin used to relax facial muscles and improve wrinkles caused by repetitive facial expressions. These "expression lines," which become more prominent with age, soften and gradually after treatment with Botox and may disappear over time. The most common areas treated are the frown lines between the eyebrows, horizontal forehead lines, and crow's feet. The effect of Botox usually lasts 3 to 5 months. After several treatments, the effect may last longer—6 to 8 months.
Botox has been safely used cosmetically for over 20 years and is FDA approved to treat wrinkles. The procedure consists of a few drops of Botox being introduced via a small needle in to the offending muscle. Botox blocks nerve impulses from reaching the area, thus weakening the muscle. As the muscle weakens the overlying skin also relaxes and the wrinkle recedes. The end result is smooth, youthful looking skin.
